Kano (PRE-ORDER)
In Kano, 2 to 4 players compete to create their own Emakimono — traditional Japanese painted handscrolls — by skilfully arranging vibrant paint pots. The game blends tactical resource management with spatial optimisation as players navigate a shared central mat to collect the pigments they need.
Each turn, you make meaningful choices to fill your scroll:
- Swap adjacent paint pots on the central mat to set up the perfect move.
- Take at least one paint pot, or several of the same colour if they’re adjacent in a single row or column.
- Place pots on your board, where they always fall to the lowest available space in a column — so plan your patterns carefully.
- Stay efficient: end a turn with more than four visible paint pots and the excess become scoreless “Cloud” tiles.
Once a pattern is formed, replace your paint pots with beautiful Artwork Tiles:
- Larger artworks score more (a 3-space artwork is worth 7 points).
- Secret Masterpiece cards are worth 12 points each on completion.
- Shifting “Shogun’s Demands” goal sheets reward those who adapt their style each game.
When one player fills their board, a final round of scoring decides the Master Artist.
