Coral Islands
Coral Islands is a 2-in-1 box featuring two competitive games that both use dice stacking as their main mechanic. Players take on conservation efforts to repopulate coral and redevelop islands to make them conducive to animal life.
In “Coral”, designed by Richard Maass, players repopulate a shared reef using colourful translucent dice, stacking them to complete structure cards that involve both their own and opponents’ dice. Fish tokens let you manipulate dice or place two in a turn, creating tactical trade-offs between easy low-scoring structures and complex high-scoring ones.
In “Islands”, designed by Rohan Dargad, players act as conservation charities reclaiming land lost to rising seas, moving dice around archipelagos from sea level to mountainous terrain. Each round, land cards let the active player move a die and claim a geological specialism; at the end, the players with the highest specialisms claim the most mountainous lands to score prestige. The highest prestige wins.
